A brain biobank, why?

Significant progress has been made in the understanding of neurodegenerative diseases. However, none of them has yet been cured: their pathogenic mechanisms remain largely unknown. New animal models have been developed. They are essential in the research effort but do not replace the study of the the "real" disease observed in humans.
The study of the human brain is more than ever essential.

Our missions:

To remove, sample, prepare and store brain tissues, taken post mortem from "control" subjects (not affected by neurologic diseases) and from patients affected by one of the diseases included in the Neuro-CEB biobank project
To provide these samples to recognized scientists presenting a suitable project (reviewed by a scientific committee)
To improve our knowledge concerning the disorders under study and to ultimately promote new treatments
